I 🌷 Spring
Recapping my absence, etc.
Hi again!
I took a break from posting on this app but I am so happy to be back. Despite having sub 100 readers here, posting on Substack is something I love doing and would like to be able to continue to do it more often. Anyways…
Spring….FINALLY!!!! After a very brutal winter here in NYC, I have never been more relieved to see my favorite season arrive and since I last posted on Substack, I have: started a fundraising round for work, celebrated my marriage, traveled to Japan and turned 30. This will be a recap of sorts but not to be mistaken for a travel or wedding guide because that’s not meant for me <3

I will start with my wedding celebration! Wow, what an incredible experience. It took me a while to get comfortable with the idea of having a proper wedding for a lot of reasons: it’s expensive, a lot of attention and full of father/daughter traditions, all of which made me nervous and, if I’m being honest, sad. After much consideration, my husband and I decided to have a courthouse ceremony last summer followed by lunch at King with our families and a week-long trip to England.

We also decided that we would plan a “wedding party” in March of the following year, which we would plan with the lovely Stacy of Breadseed Studio and that would take place at Golden Unicorn. We’d invite our closest friends and family to enjoy NYC’s finest Cantonese food, dance all night and end the night with Karaoke next door at Winnie’s. And that’s what we did! This was no small feat and took a lot of work but it was all worth it when the elevator doors opened to the 3rd floor of the restaurant and our dream wedding had come to life.

Following the wedding party we immediately headed to Japan and kicked off the honeymoon with a 5 day hiking trip. Although I made fun of Ross for booking this, I fully ate my words after experiencing the views, food, hospitality and sweetest friends we made along the way. We then went onto see Kyoto, Kanazawa, Tokyo and Hakone and, because we knew we had a hiking portion of trip, only brought carry-ons <3
I will never get over how special Japan is. The respect, hospitality, kindness, design, way of living and cleanliness is unlike anything I have experienced before. I am still processing it and trying to figure out ways I can incorporate it into my life back at home and can only dream that one day NYC will take a page from their book. I also didn’t shop at all, which is really shocking everyone in my life but again, only had a carry-on and was honestly overstimulated <3

It feels so good to be home, mostly because working from Japan almost killed me 💋. Nothing like logging into a remote photoshoot in LA at 3am Japan time while in a ryokan in the rural countryside on your honeymoon :)
But in all seriousness, I love Spring in NYC more than anything. It really feels like my spirits are lifted every year around this time and I’ve decided to be positive lately. Maybe it’s turning 30, maybe it’s the Hoffman Process still in my system, I don’t know!
All I do know is that I’m so excited that it’s here and that I get to experience it living in Brooklyn for the first time ever. It’s already magical! I will also be celebrating Figlia’s five-year anniversary and we will be launching a new product at the end of this month so stay tuned for more on that soon.
To bring things to a close, here are some things below that feel like Spring and are making me so happy:
Important Flowers 2026 Planner 2. Hawkins Essential Glassware in Blush 3. Paper Potted Dahlia 4. Fara Homidi Essential Eye Compact
Okay thats it! Bye! 💕
